BREACH: Logbook 24 | SCRIMSHAW Exhibit

June 14 - November 3

BREACH by Courtney Leonard, a member of the Shinnecock Indian Nation, is the artist’s largest body of work to date. BREACH is an ongoing exploration of the historical and contemporary ties between place, community, whales, and the maritime environment. The various iterations of the project, created for individual institutions and settings, investigate the multiple definitions of the term “breach.”

This installation will be an entirely new body of work that engages the Museum’s history, collections, and community partnerships with culture bearers from the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe, investigating the narratives of indigenous food sovereignty, marine life, and human environmental impact.
